Study: Students Perform Better On Tests When Cell Phones Are Banned

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A new study suggests that students are smarter without a smartphone.

Researchers found that high school students perform better on tests when cell phones are prohibited in classrooms.

Average tests scores reportedly went up by six percent following a phone ban.

For under-achieving students, scores went up by 14 percent.

Researchers say the findings suggest students may be distracted by having cell phones in class.
