PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – It was a memorable moment back in February when Philadelphia University men’s basketball coach Herb Magee won his 1,000th game, becoming just the second coach in NCAA history to reach that incredible milestone.

On Thursday, June 4th, Philly U will host a celebration at the Gallagher Center on campus.

“Well we’re going to try and make it a summer-time, picnic-type of atmosphere,” Athletic Director Tom Shirley tells KYW Newsradio. “The Mummers will kick it off and then in the middle of the evening we’ll have a little toast for Coach Magee, and then move into Joe Conklin and Jerry Blavat, ‘The Geator with The Heater,’ who are being teamed up together for the first time ever.”

The event runs from 6 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Proceeds benefit the Philadelphia University Hoop Club.
