NJ Officials Want Residents To Spread The Word About Home Grown Fruits And Veggies

By David Madden

TRENTON, NJ (CBS) -- If you're a fan of New Jersey fruits and veggies, the state would like you to go on like to talk about it.

The Jersey Fresh campaign is more than 30 years old, and Agriculture Secretary Doug Fisher isn't abandoning the traditional mode of getting the word out. But with social media all the rage, why not tap into that? So he's asking people to become, in effect, social media ambassadors.

"People will be able to put up their favorite recipe, their Jersey Fresh farm, their Jersey fresh items that are now coming into season."

And feel free to add your favorite farm, restaurant or winery that just happens to use items grown in the Garden State. Use the hashtag #JerseyFreshLove.

Fisher says the best posts will be republished on state run social media sites.
