HAMILTON, N.J. (AP) — A second soldier injured in a military Humvee crash on the New Jersey Turnpike has died from his injuries.
Officials say 35-year-old Staff Sgt. Bryce Leek of LaFargeville, New York, died Thursday.
Leek and three other soldiers were in the last Humvee of a 12-vehicle convoy in Hamilton, New Jersey, traveling to Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst when the accident occurred May 1. Authorities say a vehicle trying to pass hit the Humvee, which ran off the road and hit a tree. Twenty-five-year-old soldier John Levulis of Eden, New York, died May 7.
Leek, who was driving the Humvee, was ejected and suffered spinal injuries.
The soldiers were from the 2nd Battalion, 87th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team at Fort Drum.
The driver of the other vehicle has been charged with reckless driving.
