WATCH: Joel Embiid And D'Angelo Russell Share The Court In High School

By Ray Boyd

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- With the NBA Draft Lottery approaching, it is that time of year for Sixers fans to start deciding who they want to see the team target in the NBA Draft. Ohio State guard D'Angelo Russell is on a lot of people's minds and for good reason.

To say that he is a great fit for the Sixers is an understatement. Russell fills a number of needs that the Sixers have including ball-handling, passing and three point shooting. Russell also happens to have connections to two potential key teammates in Philadelphia.

We already discussed Russell's connection to Nerlens Noel, but did you know he also has a history with Joel Embiid?

Russell and Embiid both attended Montverde Academy in Florida during their high school days. The two were both on the roster for the 2011-12 season when Embiid was a junior and Russell was a sophomore.

Embiid eventually transferred for his senior season.

However, there is a video of the two during an open run at the school that features some other prominent names from Montverde. (fast forward to the 1:10 mark to see Embiid and Russell's clips)

How fitting would it be to see them back on the court together again, but this time in Sixers uniforms?
