Phillies Look To End Losing Streak Behind Hamels
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Phillies will look to snap a four-game losing streak tonight as they continue their four-game series against the Pittsburgh Pirates at Citizens Bank Park.
This will be the third game of this four-game series with Pittsburgh and so far it has been all Pirates. On Monday, Pittsburgh grabbed a 4-3 decision and then last night the Pirates captured a 7-2 decision. That dropped the Phillies to 11-23, they continue to have the worst record in all of MLB.
Cole Hamels will start tonight's game on the mound for the Phillies. The left-hander is 2-3 this season with a 3.68 ERA. He beat the Mets last time out with seven strong innings of work on Friday. That was also the last time the Phillies as a team tasted victory.
In 7 career starts against the Pirates, Hamels is 2-2 with a 2.76 ERA.
The Pirates will counter on the mound with LHP Francisco Liriano. He is 1-2 this season with a 2.79 ERA. His only career start against the Phillies came last season when he threw eight shutout innings against them with 12 strikeouts in a 4-1 Pirates win on September 11th.
Here is the Phillies lineup tonight against Liriano:
1. CF Ben Revere
2. SS Freddy Galvis
3. 2B Chase Utley
4. LF Darin Ruf
5. 1B Ryan Howard
6. RF Jeff Francoeur
7. 3B Cesar Hernandez
