Man Sentenced For Role In Violent Atlantic City Drug Ring

CAMDEN, N.J. (AP) — Federal prosecutors say a man is headed to prison for his role in a heroin ring run by a street gang that used threats, intimidation and violence to maintain control of Atlantic City's illegal drug trade.

Terry Davis received a 20-year sentence on Friday. He also will have to serve 10 years of supervised release once he's freed from prison.

A federal jury had convicted the 26-year-old Atlantic City resident in January on charges of conspiracy to distribute one kilogram or more of heroin and three weapons counts.

Prosecutors say Davis is a member of the "Dirty Block" gang, which they say controlled heroin sales through gun violence, including at least one homicide.

Authorities say the gang distributed heroin in and around several public housing complexes in Atlantic City.
