Chris Christie: 'No Reason To Believe That Tom Brady Lied Or Cheated'

By Andrew Porter

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- New Jersey Governor and avid Dallas Cowboys lover, Chris Christie, defended New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady.

Christie, the likely Republican presidential candidate, disregarded Ted Wells' Deflate Gate report which claimed Brady was "generally aware" of deflated footballs. Furthermore, Christie said Brady is simply a public target.

"I have no reason to believe that he lied or cheated," Christie said, speaking in New Hampshire. "You know, people in public life wind up becoming targets for various reasons. So here's Tom Brady: great-looking guy, wealthy beyond imagination, married to Gisele Bundchen and four Super Bowls," Christie said, adding that it "seems like Tom Brady's life is just almost too perfect."

Brady has stated that Wells' report does not take away from the Patriots' Super Bowl title.
