Bucks County, Pa. To Open Summer Tourism Season With Ice Cream Giveaway

By Jim Melwert

YARDLEY, Pa. (CBS) -- Tourism officials in Bucks County are celebrating "National Tourism Week," showing off all the county has to offer.

And tomorrow afternoon, they'll be giving out free ice cream in Yardley.

The event, at Shady Brook Farm, will run from 4pm to  7pm on Wednesday, featuring free ice cream from Uncle Dave's Homemade Ice Cream.

Paul Bencivengo, vice president of the tourism agency "Visit Bucks County," says it will be a kickoff to tourism season.

"In summertime there are so many events and festivals that go on in Bucks County, and it's a great time to come visit," he notes.

Bencivengo says tourism brings in nearly $900 million to Bucks County.   He says that adds up to over $100 million in federal, state, and local taxes, while also supporting more than 11,000 jobs in the county.
