PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Rhodes Scholarships are the “oldest and most celebrated international fellowship” representing the 50 states and DC and are awarded for outstanding scholarly achievements, character, commitment to others ad potential for leadership.
Now this year the first group of students in China will be eligible and winners will attend the University of Oxford for two years of postgraduate education starting in October 2015.
The change reflects the Rhodes’ desire to stay relevant in global education and is creating a platform for fundraising.
But, according to The New York Times, there are concerns that the Communist Party will try to influence the selection process. Stay tuned…..
