New Jersey Troopers Remaining In Baltimore Until Tuesday

EWING, N.J. (AP) — New Jersey state troopers are remaining in Baltimore until at least next week.

Gov. Chris Christie on Thursday extended the deployment of the 150 troopers and other state police employees that he sent earlier this week.

The state police say the extension until Tuesday came at the request of Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan. Maryland taxpayers are funding the assistance.

The troopers have been enforcing a curfew and doing other work in reaction to violence that broke out in some protests following the funeral of a black man who died in police custody.
