Cops: Vineland Mom Arrested For DWI With Kids In Car Punched, Spit On Officers

VINELAND, N.J. (CBS) -- A South Jersey woman has been charged with driving while intoxicated, assaulting three police officers and endangering the welfare of her children.

The incident happened at about 7:55 p.m. on April 27th at E. Plum and N. 7th Streets in Vineland.

According to the Vineland Police Department, 28-year-old Charmaine Pitts was pulled over and charged with DWI.

Police say Pitts resisted while she was being arrested.

According to investigators, Pitts' three juvenile children and an adult were in the car at the time of her arrest.

During a search, Vineland Police say officers found marijuana in her coat pocket.

While in custody, police say Pitts punched one officer and spit on two others.

Pitts has been charged with Aggravated Assault/Throwing Bodily Fluids on Police, Assault on Police, Possess Marijuana/Hash Under 50 Grams, Resisting Arrest and Endangering the Welfare of Children.

She was being held at the Cumberland County Jail on $50,000 bail.
