Phillies Option Domonic Brown To Triple-A Lehigh Valley

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- On Tuesday, the Phillies announced that Domonic Brown's trip to the disabled list had ended. However, Brown would not be joining the big league club just yet.

The Phillies instead decided to option Brown to Triple-A Lehigh Valley. Right-field duties in the early part of the season have gone to Grady Sizemore and Jeff Francoeur.

Brown hit .294 in six games with Class A Clearwater before joining the IronPigs for nine games on his rehab assignment. Brown hit .139 in those nine games and the Phillies feel like keeping him in Triple-A is what will be best for Brown and for the team.

Sizemore and Francoeur are hitting .133 and .200 respectively and it is somewhat telling that a former All-Star outfielder can not find a spot on a roster that is clearly struggling offensively.
