Tony Romo: 'We're Going To Win A Super Bowl Next Year'

By Andrew Porter

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- He sneakily slipped in a nine word comment at the very end, but it was the loudest part of Tony Romo's speech.

"We're going to win a Super Bowl next year," Romo  said at the Dream Ball Gala at the Omni Hotel, closing out his acceptance speech for the Nancy Lieberman Lifetime Achievement Award.

"In the last five years, it's become all the people that I'm with, the Jason Wittens, the Jason Garretts, the Joneses, these people I've been with for a long time," Romo said earlier in the speech. "I want to win a championship so bad, but it's just not about me. I literally want to win it so bad for them. For the people around me who have helped me."

Last season, Romo led the NFL in completion percentage, yards per attempt and passer rating, leading the Cowboys the divisional round of the playoffs. The bold statement will certainly raise eye brows and annoy opposing fan bases.

The Cowboys come to Philly to take on the Eagles on September 20th. Romo is sure to hear some boos.
