Delaware Authorities Charge Man With Smuggling Cigarettes
DOVER, Del. (AP) -- A New York City man is facing cigarette smuggling charges after a traffic stop by Delaware State Police on state Route 1.
Authorities announced Monday that 25-year-old Mugahid Tahir Al Ghazali was stopped for speeding south Odessa last week.
A search of the rental vehicle uncovered 394 cartons of untaxed cigarettes that authorities say were obtained in Virginia.
Al Ghazali was charged with possession of untaxed cigarettes and attempting to evade Delaware excise tax. He was released after posting cash bond of $5,500.
