Runtastic Heart Rate Monitor

By Chris Morris

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - On today's APP-tastic and outta SITE - Runtastic Heart Rate Monitor.

Generally, if you want to track your heart rate while you're out for a run or bike ride you need some sort of specialized wearable equipment. Runstastic, which has made some of the best running apps out there, says it has found a workaround for that.

Using your phone's camera, the app claims to be able to measure your heart rate. Just put your index finger on the camera and you'll get a sense of how fast your ticker is pounding - and how that compares to recent measurements.

Check out the Runtastic Heart Rate Monitor app.
