Popular Airline To Offer Roomier, More Comfortable Seats Starting In 2016

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Craving more comfort in the skies?

Flying one airline is about to get roomier.

Southwest Airlines says it will be making the seats on some of its new planes wider.

Those seats will offer more leg room, more personal storage and an adjustable headrest.

"A raised rear beam and curve in the lower rear seat allow for increased shin and leg clearance," the company explains on its website.

It's sure to be a move welcomed by consumers. Just a few days ago, a new survey claimed flying is only getting worse.

More flights are late, more bags are getting lost, and more customers are filing complaints, according to annual airline ratings released Monday by researchers at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and Wichita State.

The new Southwest seats will be on the Boeing 737 planes that are being rolled out in 2016.
