By Steve Beck

MILLSBORO, Del. (CBS) -- Two students and a driver were able to escape after a school bus caught fire in Delaware early Monday morning.

The incident happened at about 6:45 a.m. on Carey's Camp Road between Millsboro Highway and Phillips Hill Road in Millsboro.

According to the Delaware State Police, the bus driver said the bus shut down, causing it to come to a stop.

The driver said she then saw smoke and flames coming from the front area of the bus.

The driver and two children exited the rear of the bus through the emergency exit and ran to a nearby house where they were called 911.

The students and bus driver were not injured.

The bus was en-route to East Millsboro Elementary School.

The fire is believed to be caused by a mechanical issue.

The road was closed for some time while crews cleaned-up the scene.
