Cops: Girl, 12, Recants Schoolyard Attempted Abduction Story

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Police say a 12-year-old girl who reported a male tried to abduct outside her school Thursday has recanted her story.

Police went to Belmont Charter School in the 4000 block of Brown Street at about 12:30 p.m. Thursday after a 12-year-old girl told school officials a masked man tried to abduct her in the schoolyard.

Police say the girl told them she was able to break free from the male and run into the school.

The girl was taken to the Special Victims Unit for an interview. During the interview process, police say the 12-year-old recanted her story.
