Suspect in Montco Firehouse Confrontation Held on $1.5-Million Bail

By Jim Melwert

ELKINS PARK, Pa. (CBS) -- Charges have been filed against a former volunteer firefighter who allegedly held several collegues hostage last week inside a firehouse in Elkins Park, Pa.

Paul Jordan, 25, was fired from his volunteer position at the LaMott Fire House on March 30th.  The next morning, investigators say, he went into the basement of the firehouse, got into an argument with a member, pulled a gun, and ordered everyone in the room to get on the floor.

Some of the men were able to escape the room and call for help but, according to officials, Jordan held four men hostage, waving his gun, repeatedly threatening to kill one of them, even firing a gunshot into the wall just inches from that man's head.

Eventually the men were able to talk Jordan into giving himself up.  He is now facing several charges including kidnapping, aggravated and simple assault, and making terroristic threats.

Bail has been set at $1.5 million.
