Spring Tours And More At Scott Arboretum

By Phran Novelli

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Well, if your plants are running behind this year blame it on the weather. Then, why not see how someone else's are doing?

The Scott Arboretum covers the 300 acres of the Swarthmore College campus and features outstanding gardens, ornamental trees, shrubs and perennials. They specialize in choosing and grooming plants that thrive around here.

You can take their free highlights tour this Saturday from 3 to 4:30pm, to see how their plants are growing and blooming. It's a great chance to ask questions and learn about cultivars of trees and shrubs that will do well in your yard too.

You can join in their Arbor Day Celebration coming up on Saturday, April 25th from 10 to 1pm, with all kinds of activities and a free tree for every family, while supplies last.

And, there's a tour of their Green Roof (pictured here), on Tuesday April 28th in the late afternoon, from 4:30 to 6pm. To join this roof tour, you need to be older than age 12 and able to handle a brisk walk and several steps.

Get details and directions at ScottArboretum.org and in case of (eiyiyi!) a snowstorm, or thunder or hail in which case the tours would be cancelled, check ScottArboretum.org/visitorinfo or call 610-328-8025 if there's inclement weather that day.
