NJ Transit Traces Bad Odor On Some of Its Trains To Adjacent Mulch Factory; Working on a Fix

MORRISVILLE, Pa. (CBS) -- If you ride New Jersey Transit trains, particularly into the northern part of the state, you might have noticed a less-than-pleasant odor seeping into your train car.
NJT houses many of its rail cars in a yard in Morrisville (Bucks County), Pa. And it turns out that rail yard is a quarter-mile away from a mulch factory, which is kind of busy this time of year.
New Jersey Transit officials declined to comment but issued a statement in which spokesman William Smith says the odor emanates from the mulch yard and gets into the cars.
The transit agency has received about a dozen complaints from riders over the last week or so. Smith says they're looking into ways to deal with the smell.
