Bus Driver Killed In Freak Accident Outside Elementary School In Easton

By Steve Beck

EASTON, Pa. (CBS) -- A bus driver was killed in a freak accident in the parking lot of an elementary school in Pennsylvania, police said.

The incident happened at about 7 p.m. Tuesday in the parking lot of Tracy Elementary School in Northampton County.

According to the Palmer Township Police Department, 61-year-old Bonny Novack was leaving her job as a bus driver when she had a mechanical issue with her car.

Investigators said Novack got out of her car to check the issue, but apparently left the car in neutral. When she walked behind the car, police say it rolled back into her, pinning her against another parked vehicle.

Police say Novack was found by another employee who called 911.

Novack was pronounced dead at the scene.

There were no children at the school at the time.

There were no other injuries.

The incident remains under investigation.
