Weather: Warmer Temperatures Ahead

By Justin Drabick

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Once again, March ended up being a cold month with overall temperatures -4.4 degrees below average, but a pattern change should bring typical Spring temperatures to the region during the month of April.  It was a pleasant start to the month of April but even with full sunshine, temperatures only made it to the mid 50s.  However, southerly winds will return on Thursday with plenty of sunshine, which will help boost temperatures above average in the mid 60s.

The warm air mass will remain in place for Friday with even warmer highs in the upper 60s, but a cold front will bring showers at times through the day.  Behind the front, skies will clear out for Saturday with a brief cool down as high return slightly below average in the mid 50s.  Easter Sunday will remain pleasant with highs in the upper 50s with sun & clouds.

Beyond Easter, the overall weather pattern over the next few weeks will favor warmer temperatures but will also be wet.  So expect mild days in the 60s along with more April showers.  By the end of the month, the average high temperature is in the upper 60s.  Maybe the recent below average monthly temperature streak will finally come to an end in April.
