Sestak Ends Journey Across State As Part Of US Senate Bid
OHIOVILLE, Pa. (AP) — Former Pennsylvania congressman and U.S. Senate candidate Joe Sestak says he hopes his walk across Pennsylvania will ease what he called the country's biggest deficit — a "trust deficit" between politicians and the people who elect them.
The Democratic candidate began the final mile of the 422-mile journey on Saturday in Beaver County near the Ohio line and finished along with 40 supporters at an Ohioville park.
Sestak, a former Navy vice admiral from suburban Philadelphia, is hoping to win the seat now occupied by Republican Pat Toomey, who narrowly defeated him in 2010.
Sestak said residents have been talking about small business job creation and education costs. He said he hopes if elected to ease the regulatory burden on small businesses and increase their access to venture capital.
