Police: Woman Raped, Robbed By Teens In Port Richmond

By Jan Carabeo, Mike DeNardo

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Police say a woman was raped by two teens, who then robbed her at gunpoint in the Port Richmond section of Philadelphia.

Police responded to reports of a woman screaming around 11 p.m. Thursday in the 3900 block of Richmond Street.

According to police, the 19-year-old victim was walking home from the gym when she was approached by the suspects. At gunpoint, investigators say the suspects raped the female. The suspects then took cash, along with other items from the victim.

The suspects then ran away, but not before leaving the victim with a threatening message.

"The males who committed this crime stated to her, point of gun, that if she called the police, or told anyone, including her family, that they would find her and kill her and also kill her family," Chief Inspector Scott Small said.

The victim gave police a description of the suspects. A short time later, police found both of them near the scene and arrested them.

The victim positively identified the suspects and the victim's stolen items were found in the suspect's possession.

Investigators say the suspects are 14 and 17-years-old.

Police are now hoping nearby surveillance cameras can help them tie up this case.
