Crying Piccolo Girl Spotted At Temple NIT Game

By Ray Boyd

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Never underestimate the creativity of a good college cheering section. The Cherry Crusade (well known to all of us Temple alums) took the opportunity to take a jab at a local rival on Thursday night while also distracting their opponent.

As the Owls squared off with Louisiana Tech, a cutout of Villanova's now famous crying piccolo girl made its way into the student section.

Crying Piccolo Girl had her moment of fame in Villanova's early NCAA Tournament upset this past weekend. Since she has made an appearance on television as well as on 94WIP.

Temple fans are probably content with that being Villanova's claim to fame. Despite the Owls not making the NCAA Tournament like their rivals up on the mainline, at least their season lasted longer.

Have to give the Temple fans an "A" for creativity.

Temple definitely got the last laugh as they defeated Louisiana Tech 77-59 to advance to the semifinal of the NIT.
