TRENTON, NJ (CBS) – Gov. Christie has ordered all state buildings to fly flags at half-staff on Monday.

That’s in honor of U.S. Marine Captain Stanford H. Shaw III, who was killed during a training exercise off the coast of Florida.

“Captain Shaw’s patriotism and dedicated service to his country and his fellow Marines makes it appropriate and fitting for the State of New Jersey to remember him, to mark his passing, and to honor his memory,” said Governor Christie in the executive order.

Captain Shaw, a dedicated and decorated Marine, is a native of Basking Ridge, NJ.
