Hundreds Gather To Remember Fallen Philadelphia Police Officer

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A week after his death, Philadelphia Police officer Robert Wilson III's Cobbs Creek neighborhood gathered to remember him.
Hundreds gathered on a basketball court at 61st and Baltimore Avenue to remember the man they called a friend.
Neighbors of the Cobbs Creek community lit candles and applauded Officer Wilson's service. Family friend Tyrone Sims, who organized the event, remembers Wilson as a child.
"He also was a good person, he was always a good gentleman. He always dreamed of becoming a Philadelphia Police officer, his dream came true," said Sims.
Wilson's sister Shakira stood to speak about what all of this means to her family.
"I really thank everyone -- I really appreciate it. The love shown for my brother, it's amazing, it's really amazing," she said.
Sergeant Montee Cooper grew up in the same neighborhood as Wilson, and attended the vigil with his fellow police officers to remember a hero.
"This is a big loss. He was a great guy, great guy -- always had a big smile on his face," said Sergeant Cooper.
The funeral for Officer Wilson is scheduled for Saturday.
