Boyd: Glimpses Of Joel Embiid Should Have Sixers Fans Excited

By Ray Boyd

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A few seconds of clips on Instagram and Twitter should rarely ever be viewed as substantial evidence of anything. However, the Sixers have lately been sharing some snippets on social media of Joel Embiid working out prior to games.

Sixers fans that are witnessing the clips should be getting excited over what they are seeing. Embiid is showing us some glimpses of why he's going to be worth the wait.

Exhibit A:

In just that quick video alone, we see Embiid's ability to hit a midrange jumper, his back to the basket scoring ability and his footwork in the paint and around the rim.

There is no reason to crown him anything just yet. Obviously, there is no defense out there at this point beyond Brett Brown or one of his assistants.

But, how can you not get excited when this pops up in your Twitter feed?

Or this:

And one more for good measure:

We are all getting the chance to see glimpses of how special of a player Embiid could be. The impact of a strong back to the basket scorer with a mid-range game in today's NBA is incredibly high. In a climate where the dominant center has fallen by the wayside, the Sixers have the distinct advantage of just now developing their own.

We more than likely will not get to see Embiid suit up until Summer League at the earliest. In the meantime, we can thank Sixers social media for the clips they continue to provide.
