New Book Designed For Children Chronicles The History And Culture Of New Hope, Pa

By Brad Segall

NEW HOPE, Pa. (CBS) -- The history and culture of one of Bucks County's most unique communities comes alive on the pages of a new book designed specifically for children.

New Hope is usually known for its adult activities, the restaurants, bars and nightclubs and unusual stores, but there's plenty to do for children as well.

The New Hope Historical Society is behind Let's Visit New Hope, inspired by a group of second grade students who were surveyed about what they were interested in.

Co-author Roy Ziegler says, "So we took all of that and we kind of worked that into a story. Kind of a trip through New Hope and as we rolled out the wonderful time you can have in New Hope, we inserted things about the history."

He wrote the book with Gayle Goodman and both authors will be at a signing today from 2 until 4 p.m. at the Parry Mansion on South Main Street.

Proceeds from the book will help the Historical Society move forward with its mission of preserving the past and looking to the future.
