State Police: Entire Wheelchair Ramp Stolen From Berks County Home

By Steve Beck

ROCKLAND TOWNSHIP, Pa. (CBS) -- There have been stories about heartless thieves stealing wheelchairs from victims, but it is extremely rare to hear about someone stealing an ENTIRE wheelchair ramp.

That is exactly what Pennsylvania State Police said happened at a home in Berks County.

State Police say the bizarre theft happened between 8 a.m. on February 6th and 2 p.m. on February 18th.

According to investigators, the suspect(s) entered the garage of the home and removed a galvanized steel wheelchair ramp that was used to enter the home.

The ramp had a black mesh floor and was multiple levels. The ramp had three flat sections and two ramp sections.

State Police say the suspect(s) fled the scene in a gray pick-up truck that was pulling a single axel trailer.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Trooper Clugston at 610-378-4011.
