2015 Philadelphia Flower Show Preps Begin To Bloom

By Kristen Johanson

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The Oscars just wrapped up, but at the Pennsylvania Convention Center they are rolling out the red carpet for everything floral as preparations for this year's Philadelphia Flower Show are now underway.

Crews string lights and workers set the stage -- all for the big performance coming to Philadelphia. Bill Schaffer with Schaffer Designs says their Nightmare Before Christmas exhibit is one of their biggest yet:

"Starting the show with 19,470 stems of flowers."

Alan Jaffe with the Horticultural Society says 'Celebrate the Movies' is the theme this year:

"You go into a theater and you feel like you want to go home and do new things in your life, so we want to bring that same concept to people who are going to come to the Flower Show and go home to their gardens and going to dream big."

Cinderella is the inspiration for Eric Shellack with Robertson's Flowers.

"We got one of the glass slippers from the movie, which is very exciting, which is the center piece of our exhibit," he explains.

Saturday is the big premiere, and the show runs through next week.
