Poll: Majority Of Phillies Fans 'Not At All' Excited For New Season

By Ray Boyd

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- With pitchers and catchers now in Clearwater for the start of Phillies Spring Training, it is official that baseball is here. There has to be a buzzing among the fan base as they get ready to watch their team take to the diamond for another season of baseball.

Right?

On Thursday, the Audio Roadshow Question for Angelo Cataldi and 94WIP Morning Show was "How excited are you about the new baseball season," and the results showed that there is not a lot of enthusiasm to go around.

21 percent of voters said that they were "very," excited for the new season ahead. 26 percent of voters described their excitement level as "so-so."

An overwhelming majority of voters responded "not at all," in terms of their excitement level for this upcoming season. The number for that group was 53 percent.

That means that 79 percent of people who took part in the poll are either not at all excited for the start of baseball season or are only mildly interested.

The Phillies have a number of question marks surrounding their team including some surrounding their best player, Cole Hamels.

Even Hamels expressed his doubts about the team being able to win in 2015. It's hard to get excited when your best player does not see winning as a possibility.
