Police: Limo Driver Shot, Killed In Olney

By Steve Patterson

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Police are investigating after they say a limo driver was shot and killed in Philadelphia's Olney neighborhood.

"It's just sad," said Condor Taxi Service Manager Jose Sanchez. "How do you have the heart to do something like that to a person?"

Police say at about 9 p.m. Thursday 44-year-old Car Service Driver Jorge Luis Morales Quiles was stopped at the corner of Tabor and Mascher in Olney when he was approached by two men on foot.

"He got into some type of altercation with two unidentified males, one of them pulled out a gun, fired several times into the vehicle," said Philadelphia Police Captain James Clark.

Police say six to seven shots were fired into the car.

A single bullet struck a major artery in Quiles' leg -- he bled to death at the scene.

The unidentified males took off on foot.

"Robbery is not a motive. He had a lot of money and valuables inside of the vehicle. Nothing was touched. We don't know what this is about but it's not a case of robbery," said Clark.

After the driver was shot police say his car continued on and struck a telephone pole. Police are working with surveillance video in the area.

Sanchez says this is the third Condor service driver to be shot and killed in the last five years.

Police say previous incidents were clear-cut robberies.

Quiles was off-duty.
