Dr. Richard Land: Pres. Obama Has His Head In The Ground When It Comes To Radical Islamic Jihadism And ISIS

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Dr. Richard Land, President of the Southern Evangelical Seminary, told WPHT midday host Dom Giordano that the comparison that many have been making between ISIS and Nazis before World War II is completely off, and the way that President Obama is handling it like an "ostrich with its head in the sand."

"The President is in an ever-smaller minority of people who have adopted an ostrich mentality, and they're sticking their head in the sand and pretending that we do not have an existential threat to our civilization from radical Islamic jihadism. I think that comparison to the Nazis is not really that apt, because the Nazis were bad, but this is more like Bolshevism in 1917 and 1918. Winston Churchill said that 'we could've strangled Bolshevism at its beginning and saved the world a century of grief, bloodshed and slaughter.' If we don't stop this while it's still relatively easy to stop, it's only going to grow. It's just going to metastasize. We see it metastasizing in different countries all over the world, and it's going to continue."

Land feels that President Obama is living in an "alternative universe somewhere" in which radical Islamic jihadists are not targeting Jews and Christians for their religion, and he states that even other Muslims are not safe from this "death cult."

"Radical Islamic jihadism is a death cult that has taken root within Islam. Over 90% of the people that have been killed by these jihadists, so far, have been Muslims that refuse to knuckle under this cult that has taken root as being the only legitimate expression of Islam. It is up to us in the west to defend our civilization, to defend freedom, to defend separation of Mosque and state, as well as separation of church and state."

In an effort to defeat this movement, Land feels that America has to be strongly involved in its elimination, and he uses the past as a proof of concept.

"This is not going to be defeated without American leadership. That is a sad truth. Bolshevism, Nazism and Japanese militarism would not have been defeated without American leadership. We didn't do it by ourselves, but without our leadership it wouldn't have happened....When there is not American leadership, it is like having a city with no police. It becomes a very dangerous place."
