Car Sales Are Predicted To Hit Historic Levels In Philadelphia

Kevin Mazzucola is serving in his eighteenth year as executive director of the Automobile Dealers Association of Greater Philadelphia, which produces the annual Philadelphia Auto Show. In this role, Mazzucola serves as a spokesman for the industry in both the Harrisburg and Philadelphia City Council. He also oversee the Auto Dealers CARing for Kids Foundation, which is the philanthropic arm of the Association. Prior to coming to Philadelphia, he served as the executive vice president of the Wyoming Automobile Dealers Association. A graduate of the University of Montana, Mazzucola resides in Collegeville with his wife and two children.

The Automobile Dealers Association of Greater Philadelphia (ADAGP), established in 1904, is the oldest association of its kind in the nation. The Association is comprised of 185 franchised new car and truck dealers throughout the Greater Philadelphia area. The philanthropic arm of the ADAGP is a 501(c)(3) public charity that contributes funding to worthwhile child-related programs and causes throughout the five-county region of Philadelphia. Since its incorporation in 2003, the Foundation has contributed $6.4 million to area children's charities and organizations.

What kind of positive impact has the economy had on your business in the last month?

"Sales in 2009 were 10.4 million and in 2014, 16.5 million.  Almost a 60 percent increase and six years of growth, reflect historic levels. 2015 experts are predicting 17 million units in the U.S."

What do you anticipate happening in your field that will bring growth to your market in the next 6 months?

"There have been three primary factors impacting historical increases in new vehicle sales: historically low-interest rates; stabilized consumer debt, and pent-up demand."

What is the median salary for a position in your field?

"The average salary for a sales consultant is approximately $50-$60K."

What type of education do you need for a position in your field?

"Rather than education, I'd say someone pursuing a career in this field must, above all else, possess eagerness, love of vehicles, thoroughness and strong communicative skills."
