Read The Email Howard Eskin Received After Requesting An Interview With Roger Goodell

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell told 94WIP's Howard Eskin, during his State of the League address last Friday, that he is available to the media on a daily basis.

Well, Eskin pressed the issue further and emailed Goodell requesting an interview. Just seven minutes later, here's the response Eskin received from NFL PR man Greg Aiello.

Howard: He said he's "available to the media almost every day of my job, professionally. We try to make ourselves available on a very regular basis." He communicates with the media regularly in press conferences, interviews, privately at times, and through his staff. That being said, thanks for the opportunity but we will take a pass on your request. All the best.

Before his State of the League address, Goodell had not spoken to the media in months, even on the heels of the controversial Deflategate scandal. Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman defended his teammate Marshawn Lynch for shunning the media during Super Bowl media day, by calling out the Commissioner.

"Richard Sherman said the other day, that if the players should be available every week you as the Commissioner should be available to the fans and the media on a weekly basis as well," Eskin said to Goodell during his State of the League on Friday. "Can you address his question as well?"

"I understand my obligation of my job to meet with the media," Goodell responded. "I don't know whether I meet with them in a press conference every week, but I'm available to the media almost every day of my job professionally. We try to make ourselves available on a very regular basis, and I will do that."
