Suspect Arrested For Armed Robbery Spree Near Wilmington

WILMINGTON, Del. (CBS) – Officials in Delaware announced the arrest of a suspect in connection with a string of armed robberies that began in December 2014.

Thirty-two-year-old Jose A. Quinones was arrested on Monday, Jan. 19, 2015 after he was spotted in a parked car outside a Wal-Mart shortly after reportedly attempting to rob a BP gas station on Lancaster Pike in Wilmington.

During the robbery, which happened at 5:50 p.m., Quinones is said to have entered the gas station and implying he was armed before demanding money from the register. The clerk refused and produced a hand gun before shooting at Quinones, who then fled the store towards the Lancaster Court Apartments.

Based on a broadcast description of Quinones and a potential vehicle description, Quinones was arrested without incident.

Troopers also noticed that Quinones had been shot in the upper extremity during the attempted robbery. He was taken to Christiana Hospital Trauma Center by EMS.

State police also linked Quinones to 12 additional robberies at gas stations, markets, liquor stores and other retail outlets in the area.

Quinones is charged with 12 counts of Robbery 1st Degree, Attempted Robbery 1st Degree, and 13 counts of Wearing a Disguise during the Commission of a Felony.

He was arraigned and committed to Howard Young Correctional Institution on $65,000 secured bail.
