What's Cooking on 1060: Center City Bargains, New BBQ, and Japanese-Italian

By Hadas Kuznits

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --  Smokin' John's Barbecue is now open, at 4258 Main Street in Manayunk.

"We have two types of chicken, we have our beef short ribs and our beef briscuit, our pulled pork and our St. Louis spare ribs," says pitmaster John O'Brien (top photo).  "We do a different sausage every few days.  We do a maple glazed smoked turkey breast, a spice-crusted smoked salmon.  We also do -- and this is different - a vegetarian seitan rib."

Morimoto chef Ben Dayag says Japanese and Italian cuisines make an interesting marriage.

"And we'll  definitely expose some of the items on our tasting menus throughout the week," he tells What's Cooking, "so if you miss a dinner you'll be able to taste one of the dishes."
