WILKES-BARRE, Pa. (CBS) - Togetherness getaways can be overhyped, which is why a winter odyssey with family or friends where everyone does their own thing may be a good suggestion.
So you've rented a cozy mountain condo for a skiing weekend with friends. There's Friday night dinner, a little party, a little dread.
But not everyone is looking forward to a day dashing down a mountain on slats and boards. It's time to talk about splitting up - each to his or her own.
For most non-skiers, the answer is right at the mountain - on the snow tube chutes.
"It's easy, and it's kinda' relaxing and exhilarating at the same time," one tuber says.
But there are others options.
In the nearby Poconos where most of us run for winter getaways, outlet shopping beckons right on the Camelback Mountain access road. Casinos are going full blast at Mohegan Sun at Wilkes Barre and Mt. Airy Lodge. If you want to whirl and twirl on the flat, Alpine Mountain near Henryville has launched an ice rink.
Togetherness can wait.
