Philadelphia's Rodin Museum Set To Close For Reinstallation Project

By Mike Dougherty

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Rodin Museum in Philadelphia shuts its doors Thursday for a month-long reinstallation.

About 40 pieces are coming out of storage and will go on display at the museum.

"We'll be able to change the theme of the Rodin Museum," says Curator Jennifer Thompson, "and be able to explore different aspects of (Auguste) Rodin's career."

Thompson says the new instillation will give visitors a glimpse inside Rodin's studio.

"I think it gives us a very powerful, a very personal view of Rodin at work," she says, "and what it might have been like to have your portrait made by him."

Portraits of several famous figures, including Victor Hugo and Joseph Pulitzer, will be on display. New audio-visual aides will help educate and guide visitors through the experience.

The museum reopens on February 7th.
