PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — Just because the Eagles are not in the playoffs doesn't mean that they're still not connected with what is going on in the postseason. Eagles' veteran safety Malcolm Jenkins adds his insight this week and throughout the playoffs on what he sees and what he finds could be the most surprising of the eight teams left standing.

"I think Carolina surprised a lot of people and the Dallas game against Detroit was very controversial, but the team that I liked over the past weekend, but the team that I like is the Panthers," Jenkins said. "Their defense has been playing lights out over the last month and defense travels wells in the NFL playoffs. All championship teams have solid defensive play, and we saw that last year with Seattle, and Carolina has two linebackers and what they do is phenomenal. I think Carolina can really surprise some people. I think it's still a long shot that Carolina upsets Seattle, but Seattle doesn't have the kind of explosive offensive that can run away with a game. The Carolina-Seattle game could come down to who creates the most turnovers and who has the ball in the end to win it.

"The wildcard for Carolina is a good special teams and the Panthers have a better special teams. I can see that game being determined by a field goal. Carolina could be a surprise."

Dallas at Green Bay: "I like Green Bay, just because I don't like Dallas. Seriously, I think Aaron Rodgers and that team are a tough team to beat at Lambeau Field. That's a tough place to go win, but I do think it will be a close game. I think Dallas does a great job of when hit their stride as a team, they're hard to beat. You saw that against Detroit when they struggled early. When they started getting it together, you saw what they did in the end. Green Bay wins at home though.

Carolina at Seattle: "This is an intriguing game to me. My gut and my mind tells me that Seattle should win this game. But something tells me Carolina might be able to pull off the upset, strictly off of their defense. I'm not going to give a bold prediction that it's Seattle, but if it's a close game and a defensive struggle, I wouldn't be surprised if Carolina pulls off the upset. But if I had to make a pick, it's Seattle."

Indianapolis at Denver: "I like Denver. I think Indianapolis is a solid team that does a lot of things really well. But I also think the Colts turn the ball over a little too much and their defense is a little suspect. The Broncos have too much offense for the Colts, especially when you have Denver coming off a bye week and they can get healed up. Broncos have the kind of explosive offense that can beat Indianapolis."

Baltimore at New England: "I like New England. Baltimore may not be able to keep up with New England, which like Denver, will be strong coming off a bye week. The Patriots win this."
