Police Searching For Hit And Run Driver Who Struck And Killed A Woman In NE Philadelphia

By Molly Daly

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia Police are asking for your help in finding the truck that struck and killed a South Philadelphia woman Tuesday evening in Northeast Philadelphia.

It happened just before 5:30 Tuesday night near the Curran Fromhold Correctional Facility, as 33 year-old Theresa Pozzi walked across State Road toward the bus stop. Witnesses tell Eyewitness News it happened in a flash.

"I saw her walk up to the center line, and then she was gone. And then her cell phone and purse hit my car."

Pozzi was critically injured and died a short time later. Police say the vehicle that hit her, a dark colored pickup or tow truck, was headed north on state, and did not stop. It's an older model, from the late 80s or early 90s. Anyone with information is asked to call 911.
