Police ID Woman Killed In Holmesburg Hit-And-Run

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Police are searching for a driver after they say a woman was struck and killed in Northeast Philadelphia.

Police say it happened around 5:20 p.m. Tuesday at the 8100 block of State Road in Holmesburg, near Curran-Fromhold Correctional Facility.

According to Philadelphia Police, Theresa M. Pozzi, 33, was struck by a black tow or pick up truck traveling northbound on State Road.  Police say the truck did not stop.

The woman did not use the crosswalk, according to police.

"I saw her walk up to the center line and she was gone, and her cell phone and purse hit my car," witness Linda Alfonsi told Eyewitness News.

"I don't know how anybody could do that. It's traumatizing. One minute she's there and gone," Alfonsi said.

Police say the woman was taken to Aria Health Torresdale Campus where she was pronounced dead around 6:38 p.m.

Police are looking at surveillance cameras in the area to find the truck. It is described as an older model (1987-1991.)

An investigation is ongoing.
