Man Shot In Back After Gunman Opens Fire In South Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Police are investigating an overnight shooting in South Philadelphia that left a man hospitalized.

Authorities say the 33-year old victim was walking home in the area of 25th and Moore Streets a little after 1 a.m. Tuesday when someone fired off eight shots, one of which struck the man in his back. The victim was able to run home and call police.

He was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in stable condition.

Police were checking surveillance video for any possible clues.

There was no immediate word on any possible suspects or a motive.
