Mother of Missing Roxborough Man Hoping For 'Resolution' in Son's Whereabouts

By John McDevitt

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Three weeks to the day after 21-year-old Shane Montgomery of Roxborough disappeared following a night of drinking in Manayunk, his family is more committed than ever to discovering what happened to him.

"I have a tough time getting out of bed every day, but I made a promise that I was going to find Shane.  And I'm going to find him," says Shane's mother, Karen Montgomery.

She tells KYW Newsradio that she and her husband Kevin have not gone back to work but have been out looking for their son every day, "looking for any kind of clue or anything that may have belonged to Shane."  She adds that they have "no plans on doing that until we find Shane and get some resolution -- I wouldn't call it peace, but resolution."

Mrs. Montgomery notes there's a new detective on the case and sonar was used in the Manayunk Canal and the Schuylkill River yesterday, and there are plans to use more dogs in the search.

"People can't imagine what this is like -- you can't imagine," she says.

The reward for information leading to Shane Montgomery has reached $65,000.

On Saturday, a 5K race will be held in Manyunk to raise money for the "Help Find Shane Montgomery Fund." It will start at 9am outside Goals Fitness, in the 4400 block of Main Street.  There will no fee to run, but donations are encouraged.
