Giordano: This Year's Feast Of The Seven Fishes

By Dom Giordano

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- This year's Feast of the Seven Fishes was our best yet. This is a column to thank everyone that labored long and hard to make this tradition go to another level. Most radio station and their listeners could not make an event like this happen.

The highlight of the night for me was Colonel Allen West. When I was in the process of introducing Colonel West as my national person of the year, I mentioned my friend Colonel Rutter, the man who lead the capture of Bagdad Airport during the Iraq War. Colonel West immediately want to the back of the room to embrace Rutter, who had served with West in Iraq. This moment caused the room to erupt.

Listeners also mobbed Rich Weinstein, the man who brought to our attention the videos of Dr. Jonathan Gruber. This type of up close and personal contact is exactly what I wanted when we started this event.

The bonding of our listeners with each other and our sponsors is another great part of dinner. I particularly loved listeners meeting Bill, my producer, and Roe.

This was the best event yet because the staff at the station knows how to keep the core idea of the event and improve and add elements that make it fresh each year.

I'm already planning next year's Feast. I'll see you there.
