Upper Darby Police Car Struck By Alleged DUI Driver

UPPER DARBY, Pa. (CBS) -- A police officer was injured after his police cruiser was struck by a suspected drunk driver in Delaware County early Tuesday morning.

The crash happened at about 3 a.m. at Hilltop and Garrett Roads in Upper Darby.

According to the Upper Darby Police Department, a suspected drunk driver slammed into an Upper Darby Police car. The cruiser came to a stop next to an utility pole.

Investigators said the officer was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania for treatment of minor injuries and later released.

The driver, who was not immediately identified, is facing DUI charges.

The crash remains under investigation.
