What's Cooking on 1060: Italian Sausage, Cuban Cuisine and Beer

By Hadas Kuznits

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --  The Market at Maglios is now open at the former sausage manufacturing plant in South Philadelphia at 3632 S. 3rd Street. What can you find there?

"The most amazing Italian products," says Jerry McNelis, with the Market at Maglios, "everything local, keeping everything Philadelphia-based, Cento brand products, Dietz and Watson products, amazing artisan cheeses, breads, the whole 9 yards, plus our amazing Italian sausage."

Meanwhile, Jose Garces has opened Nacional 56, a cuban music lounge beneath his Rosa Blanca restaurant at 707 Chestnut Street.

"We're serving just some light bites, really empenadas, croquetes, just little finger foods," Garces says. "We want people to feel sexy when they're down there."

And St. Benjamin Brewing Company in South Kensington pays tribute to Little Pete's Diner in Center City with a new brew, Little Peat Stout.

"Not only does the beer have a little bit of peat malt, a little bit of peat smoke to it, we were losing Little Pete and the two names just seem to come together and coincide," says brewer and operations manager Christina Burris. "The first keg, we'll be rolling out to the Bacon and Beer event this Saturday at the Armory, and then we'll start moving it around town!"
